Clubs & Activities

Greene School offers various after school activities to give students the opportunity to participate in special interest areas in a structured school environment. All activities are offered to fifth and sixth grade students unless otherwise specified. Activity groups meet immediately after the dismissal bell and in most cases end around 4:00PM.
STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP PROMPTLY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE ACTIVITIES IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE.
STUDENTS SHOULD LISTEN TO MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MORE INFORMATION REGARDING SPECIFIC CLUB ACTIVITIES.

Computer club is designed for students experienced with computer use who want to share their acquired technology skills; through video-taping, video editing projects, web pages, designing an online newspaper, and/or sharing software expertise with others. The students in computer club will be using digital video equipment and computers to produce video programs.

E. H. GREENE ART CLUB

Greene students interested in art are welcome to bring their creativity to the After School Art Club. The goal of the art club is to have fun making art together in a relaxed environment. We will try several different art forms.

The activity takes place after school on Wednesdays from 3-4. Students must be picked up at this time, or be able to bike or walk home. Students sign up for each session separately. Permission slips will be available in the art rooms and the activities bin. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Space is limited and this class fills quickly.

GREENE MACHINE

Greene Machine is a show choir combining singing with dance. Students learn correct vocal technique and dance routines to enhance the music. Students must audition for this group and attend a clinic prior to the audition to learn the song and dance required for the audition. The clinic will be held on Monday, August 26th from 3-4pm and the auditions are on Tuesday, August 27th. The group will meet from August to the end of November. GIRLS ON THE RUN!

GOTR inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident! Coaches and girls meet twice weekly for physically active and fun games, team building, and training to complete a 5K. Girls learn to make friends, set goals, feel empowered, and realize their full potential as they cross the finish line at their own pace...running, walking, or skipping!

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Are you a girl that has a love for shooting hoops? Or a girl that is interested in learning a few things about playing basketball? Do you love to play hoops against other people? If so, after school girls basketball may be just for you!
Girls basketball will be held in the new gym every day, after school. Joining is absolutely free.

MATH & SCIENCE FUNFEST

MEDIA PRODUCTION

This club will be taping, editing, and producing events around our school. Teachers are often in need of someone with expertise to help with a project in their classroom as well. The students will be trained using Digital Video cameras to tape athletic events, music performances, and other activities during the school year. Selected students will be chosen to help manage the morning announcements at E.H. Greene.

PARTNERS CLUB / PEER CONNECTIONS

Partner's Club is the after school component of our school’s Peer Connections program. The focus is offering an opportunity for fun student-led activities for students in 5th and 6th grade. The club encourages social experiences for students with varying strengths and abilities.

ROBOTICS LEGO CLUB

This club is geared towards students who are interested in designing and building LEGO robotics. Students will work on teams of 6 to build, practice, problem solve and complete challenges on a LEGO field table. Our final mini competition will be here at EHG during the after school activity time. We will meet on Fridays from 3:00 to 4:30.

FRIENDSHIP PROJECT

We believe that if students build more friendships that are positive influences on each other’s lives, our school culture will also be more positive.

The Friendship Project will have a different activity planned each month, designed to encourage students to meet new friends and be positive influences on their peers.
The Friendship Project will be open to all current EHG 5th & 6th graders.
Below are the activities and dates we will meet throughout the year. Activities are subject to change as needed.

Clubs and activity permission slips will come available about 2 weeks before the club’s first meeting date. Staff members in charge of the club will have paper copies of the permission slips. The permission slips that are linked in this document are not digital sign ups. These permission slips are here if you would like to print them and turn them in rather than getting a paper copy from school.
