Specials at Greene

 

Orchestra

The string orchestra builds on skills from the beginning program. Students continue developing musically through age‑appropriate materials and perform in both small groups and full orchestras. It is open to students who are interested in playing violin, viola, cello, or bass.

Choir

Choir builds musical skills by teaching the basics of music and how to develop the voice. Students perform a variety of musical styles from different cultures and events and have opportunities to participate in additional performances throughout the year.

Band

The band builds on skills from the beginning program. Students continue developing musically through small ensembles, sectionals, and full band rehearsals while performing a variety of music. It is open to students who are interested in brass, woodwind, or percussion.

General Music

General music focuses on building foundational skills through age-appropriate activities. Students explore rhythm, melody, and expression by singing, moving, and playing instruments. The class encourages creativity and supports musical growth in a fun, engaging environment for all.

Flight
FLIGHT at E.H. Greene focuses on hands-on, innovative learning that connects academics with real-world skills. It encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through projects inspired by the school’s Aviators theme and STEM principles.

Art

The art program focuses on exploring materials, design, problem-solving, and art history. Students are introduced to painting, drawing, ceramics, and creative thinking. They engage in project-based learning to investigate and respond to real-world challenges through their artwork.

Physical Education

Physical Education provides opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in team and lifetime sports. Students improve fitness through games, strength training, warm‑ups, and track activities. Health covers nutrition, fitness, and drug awareness.

STEAM

The STEAM program encourages creativity and critical thinking through hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Students explore real-world problems, design solutions, and collaborate to develop skills in innovation and problem-solving.
